It is believed that the death toll has increase in an attack on communities in Langtang South Local Government of Plateau State has risen to 70, and this is in addition to the over 7,000 that have been displaced.

Hon. Beni Lar, Member representing Langtang North/South Constituency in the House of Representatives, who confirmed this during a visit to the affected parts, said several people were still missing.

She said, “From what I gathered, the Divisional Crime Officer is still missing, seven thousand people were displaced, while almost 70 lost their lives.

Boko Haram leader Imam Abubakar Shekau has made another video appearance, daring the United States and others.

He said none of the world powers could locate his whereabouts, no matter how hard they try. Besides, Shekau vowed that the sect would attack Abuja – the seat of the government and the refineries – the symbol of Nigeria’s economic power.

In a 56-minute video in which Shekau mixed Arabic, Hausa, English and Kanuri, he declared war against those he described as infidels, including Christians.

He also spoke on the fate of the girls, who have been converted to Islam.

An Australian woman has miraculously given birth to conjoined twins with one body and two brains despite doctors initially telling them to terminate the pregnancy.

Renee Young and Simon Howie, of Tregear in Sydney's west, welcomed their daughters on Thursday six weeks before they were due.

The Federal Government has said testing for HIV/AIDS is mandatory for intending couples in Nigeria. The plan, according to government, is to help reduce new infection of HIV virus in the country.

It added that the decision was binding on followers of all religions. Our correspondent gathered this from stakeholders who met to ratify the plan in Abuja yesterday. The team, comprising National Prevention Plan Validation, emphasised the decision was taken to prevent new infections and curb further spread of the disease.

Speaking with reporters at the meeting, Director, Bauchi State Agency for the Control of HIV/AIDS, TB, Leprosy and Malaria (BACATMA), Yakubu Abubakar, said there had been an improvement in the new HIV Prevention Plan in Nigeria.

An improvised bridge linking residents of Dobi community in Gwagwalada Area Council of Abuja (FCT) and other communities in the area has been washed away by flood. Residents of the community on Wednesday expressed concern over the development, as the bridge was the only link connecting them with other areas.

Mohammed Yusuf, a resident in the community, told newsmen on Wednesday in Dobi that the bridge was washed away by flood, following a downpour on May 5. In a recent chat , he talked about his adaptation of indigenous language and its importance in the music industry.

“As of the time I entered the industry, indigenous rap music was just gaining ground. People still looked at indigenous artistes as local and uneducated people. Victoria Falls Zimbabwe- A 22-YEAR-OLD woman from Ndlovu village, about 30km from Victoria Falls, has been arrested by Police over allegations of beheading her eight-month-old daughter before attempting to take her own life. The Officer Commanding Victoria Falls, Chief Superintendent Jairos Chiwona, confirmed the nerve shattering incident and said they had in their custody one Louislonh Gurajena Siziba for murdering her child Nomawethu Ncube.

The Superintendent said the infanticide occurred last Tuesday at number BH 28 – the suspect’s parents’ homestead, under Chief Mvuthu. Chiwona said an 11-year-old girl rushed to inform her grandmother who was attending a meeting in the village after she overheard Siziba saying she wanted to kill the baby “as she could not take it anymore”.

Boko Haram Bombs Bridge Linking Nigeria To Cameroon

The bombing and destruction of a small bridge linking Nigeria to Cameroon in Borno State today has caused mass destruction and confusion, killing at least 30 people!

According to SaharaReporters, the bombing occurred on the outskirts of Gamboru Ngala, site of a Monday Boko Haram attack that claimed the lives of over 300 village residents. The bridge links the immigration check points of both Cameroon and Nigeria.

The bombing event took place on the same day of a mass burial in the town of Gamboru Ngala. It was there on Monday where a Boko Haram-led raid on the small village claimed the lives of over 300 residents, nearly ten per cent of the population.

There is no good news in the news these days, Haba! The young ones are dying in their hundred daily, Lord have mercy!
