Unknown gunmen abduct renowned educationist, Prof. Ekoko

Pandemonium this afternoon gripped Delta oil-rich Community of Uzere in Isoko South LGA, as unknown gunmen seized and whisked away prominent Educationist and Politician, Prof. (Chief) Abednego Elo Ekoko.
Ekoko who is the Chairman Governing Council of the Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku, was kidnapped at the premises of St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Uzere, just as he was about to drive out.
Eyewitnesses said the kidnappers arrived the Church premises as the service was still on, and waited patiently till closure, before seizing their target.
The source however stated that the entire community which is struggling to recover from the recent flood disaster and intra-communual crisis, has once more been thrown into confusion with the abduction of the University Don, lamenting the deplorable security situation in the State.

All efforts made to reach close family members of the victim have yielded no result.
It is no news that Delta State has in recent time become a hub of criminals with incessant cases of kidnappings, armed robberies and other crimes being reported daily, with family members of the victim parting away with large sums to secure the release of the loved ones. And several others even loosing their lives in the process.
This ugly trend appeared to have totally beaten government’s strategies, thereby rubbishing the “Peace and Security” clause in the State Government’s 3-points agenda.
