An All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator has told Vanguard that the leadership of the Senate is behind the delay in the commencement of impeachment proceedings against President Goodluck Jonathan, as the Senate President, David Mark and his principle officers had always pleaded for calm and even go as far as thwarting previous moves to sack him.

What’s your greatest fear?
It’s the fear of losing anyone dear to me. Not a good feeling as I have lost a friend in the past and it wasn’t and still isn’t an easy road to go on.

The madness is far from being over. Boko Haram militants today detonated a roadside bomb after ambushing a combination of soldiers and hunters in Mararaba near Mubi in Adamawa state.

At least 10 soldiers and 35 hunters were killed in the ambush that happened around 6:00pm Nigerian time according to eyewitnesses and military sources.

A Nigerian army source said they could not immediately comment on the level of casualty but stated they were aware of the attack and still investigating.

The Senate has reacted to the the allegation by the former President Olusegun Obasanjo that the National Assembly was using constituency projects to siphon public funds, claiming that it was false.

Describing the allegation as spurious, Senator Abaribe, in a statement, said the former President’s comment was distant from the truth and nowhere near reality, adding that if it were so, the former President would not have tolerated such for the period he was the president of the country.

Almost every day, the Jonathan Presidency seems intent on demonstrating for all to see that they have mastered the art of how to push a nation into chaos within the shortest time possible. The early morning attack by security operatives on the APC data centre in Lagos on Saturday November 22nd is one such display in a growing chain of abuse and violation of the constitution and political rights of the people. It is a reckless act that must be condemned in the strongest possible terms.

Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has said that he left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) so as to get back oil wells belonging to Rivers State that were handed over to Bayelsa and Akwa-Ibom states by the Presidency.

The latest report by the International Crisis Group has suggested that with Nigeria’s politics sliding dangerously towards violence, the forthcoming general elections appeared to be in great danger.
According to the report, “Nigeria’s Dangerous 2015 Elections: Limiting the Violence”, the general elections, particularly given the bitter struggle between the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC), would be a fierce contest that might be rocked by violence if certain steps are not taken.
“The Boko Haram insurgency, competing claims to the presidency between the majority Muslim north and majority Christian south, inadequate electoral arrangements and apparent bias by security agencies all point toward a very perilous contest whose results may also be disputed,” the report said.
The authors of the report however called for urgent improvements in security and electoral arrangements, as well as in political mindsets.

A 24-year-old man, Lanre Falodu, has reportedly committed suicide in a church premises in Owo area of Ondo State, where he was taken for deliverance.
